How are plastic bottles made into clothing?

In our days, plastic bottles seemed to the world as a piece of plastic that we can drink out of and throw in the rubbish, but there’s more to it than that, because did you know there could be a chance that you might be wearing a coke bottle?

In a recycling centre, recycled bottles gets sorted and then shredded.Because most of the time, after we have done with the plastic bottles,we leave a little bit of liquid inside so they shredd the bottles to separate both the plastic and liquid,so the liquid doesn’t affect the beautiful outcome.Next they wrap the shredded plastic flakes in cellophan, then they  send it over to China.

After the bottles were shipped to China, the Chinese company gets the plastic shreds instead of the colored stuff, because clear shreds can be made for clothing and materials to be colored on,so it’s very valuable. After that, there is still some leftover stickers and it’s not going to help the shreds turn into thread,so they have to go.That’s why there is a solution which is heading to the baths, which will make the stickers fall right off.Just because the stickers have fallen off now, doesn’t mean that the chinese company just puts it in the trash,it can still come in good use, that’s why they have a separate bath for the stickers to be made for labels.

After the shreds had a big dip in the baths, just like everyone after their baths, they dry themselves, but the drying process for the plastic shreds is much more complicated.Firstly before the shreds head for the dryer, they add white colored plastics in order to make it into white cloth. Then once they are drying,it will take the plastic shreds and the plastics 10 hours to dry and mix properly. After the plastic shreds had dried, the workers have to quickly maneuver with a cart in order to catch the plastic shreds when they have fallen out.But they also have to watch out for their heads, because the other spinning ovens could cause them an injury.

Now we have dried plastic shreds ready to be transformed into thread, but the sewing people can’t weave bits and pieces so that’s why another step must be completed.Which is going through a rotated screw that is heated up to 270 degrees celsius,Which obviously results the plastic to melt. But in order to make thread, there shouldn’t be a big lump,so the melted plastic shreds is forced to go through a sieve to make great long strings which is then collected in a container below.

Now we’ve got thread but it's not strong enough to make cloth. So that’s why it must be stretched and combined while being heated, which will result in merging together. The Next step is to tear it apart agin. Also the fluff that
Emerges from the cloth is the main substance to create polyester. How ever the other prosecces is taken place at another factory,so off they go.

Next step is the fluff goes through a machine that scrapes it, and is made into joined fibres which is ready to be carded.carding is where the combined fibres are brushed together so they all can lay in a similar direction, which results to strengthening the material. After, the sheet of polyester that emerges is now ready to be turned into thread.Machines will tease it out. They will spin out mile after mile of pure polyester which is collected on bobbins.

Nextly, there is a machine that draws thousands of weaved threads and sheets of polyester. Also if the workers wanted the clothing to have a softer feeling,it must go through a delicate machine which places loops on the surface of the cloth. There is also another stage, which is going through steel brushes with rollers, to tear the loops. Then with the shredded surface,it resulted to having a soft and furry feeling.

Now we’ve got polyester and it can now be made into clothing.Firstly the workers mark out the latest design and be as creative as they can. Then they send it to workers who get the marked polyester and transform it into the coolest clothing in the fashion community.

Overall,we have turned our recycled bottles into clothing that we see in our days. This goes to show, after getting shredded, soaked, dried and finally made into fashion,we don’t have to be litter bugs throw them on the ground,we can recycle and take care of them in the future, because who knows, what else can plastic bottles be made into?
